Our guest this week is Adam Vass Gal, a recent speaker at our research conference in Auburn. Adam has degrees in economics and finance, and works as an investment advisor for the Oakley group while teaching as an adjunct professor at Belmont University in Nashville.

Adam has written a provocative new book entitled Generational Poverty: An Economic Look at the Culture of the Poor, and it takes an unabashed look at the cultural aspects of why people are poor, and why they stay poor. As you might imagine, Adam concludes that the State is a villain rather than a champion of the downtrodden.

Adam addresses the issue of poverty not only from the perspective of an Austrian economist, but also based on his experiences as a volunteer in the Big Brothers/Big Sister program. Adam’s message: culture matters, and the State destroys culture.
