We have already written several times about the evil of fictitious, pro forma observance of Judaism.
I cannot find it now, but it appears Rabbi Akiva Eiger (in his published letters) criticized the evasion of obligatory fasts by making a siyum (such as Taanis Bechoros on Erev Pesach). Was it the content of the Jewish books completed, the timing, or is the very dispensation itself invalid?
Obviously, this is not meant as pesak but as an opening for further study.
