Elections don’t help, and no state institutions are Jewishly legitimate, even de facto. As they say, “If voting changed anything, they’d make it illegal.” (People vote due to human nature, and often the evil inclination to “Statolatry” per Eric Voegelin, אכמ”ל.)
Zehut isn’t running. (Might Bibi make Feiglin his stand-in, and then, you know… like Sharon and Olmert?) The Charedi parties are all about Mesirah. I’m definitely not rooting for Otzmah‘s ridiculous “Medinat Halacha” vision.
So, vote or not, the result I’m hoping for is interminable interregnum.
But there’s a good reason to vote this time, anyway. Really!
Its called “Matzbi’im Shiv’im Achuz“. If you take a picture of yourself at the voting booth, you can get a 30% discount at a looong list of stores! Check it out here.
Of course, that’s no reason to actually vote. Perhaps all you need is the picture of you standing there… (But ask your rabbi about that!)
