בתגובה לדברי המשך חכמה שהבאנו אתמול, כותב חכ”א מבית מדרשו של הרב מאיר כהנא זצ”ל:

משונה מאד שכזה גאון כתב כאלו דברים.

אני משער שהיה קורא את שירת הים מדי יום, ואין לי אפילו כח לחזור על כל ביטויי השמחה והעליצות של התנ”ך לנוכח מפלת האויב, את הגמרא במגילה על מרדכי והמן, וגמרא ערוכה היא בברכות ט:, שלא אמר דוד ההלו י-ה עד שראה במפלתן של רשעים, והמהרש”א שם תמה על אותו ילקוט שמעוני (הזכירו כ”אחרונים בשם המדרש”) והביא ראיה מהגמרא בערכין, שאין זה הטעם לאי-אמירת הלל בשביעי של פסח.

יש לחלק בין שמחה במפלתן של רשעים לבין השמחה לעצם גורלם, ומיושבת קושית מהרש”א היטב. וכמ”ש החזו”א, לכל ראיה מסילות רבות. (ודייק הגאון משך חכמה שלא להביא פסוק “בנפול אויבך” גבי המן!) זכורני שכבר נמצא המדרש המקורי דאייתי בילקוט. ועכ”פ הספר מוסמך, ואולי לא ראהו מהרש”א בעצמו, רק שמע זכרו.

בהגדות חלוקות בעלמא פשיטא שא”א להקשות מ”כל ביטויי השמחה והעליצות של התנ”ך לנוכח מפלת האויב”, ואם רק הוא, מכם…
